biography
Carol Hillson has been painting and drawing since she
was a child. She has lived with and loved animals her
whole life. (While on her honeymoon she and her husband
drove 12 hours in a downpour to rescue 2 beautiful dogs
and make sure they were delivered to a loving home.)
Through
distinctive pet portraits
she combines her passion for portrait
painting with her love for pets and animals to offer
you a unique opportunity to own an original work of
art that captures and honors a moment in the life of
your pet and animal friend.
Carol
is an accomplished artist and a graduate of the Rhode
Island School of Design. She has studied with a variety
of artists including Frank Mason at the Art Students
League, and Melissa Harris. In the summer of 1997 she
studied in the South of France. Carol enjoys exploring
a wide range of styles and has mastery of several mediums
including oil paint and watercolor. Her portraits capture
the character of her pet and animal subjects as well
as their likeness.
Her
work is owned by collectors and has been exhibited in
shows, auctions and galleries in New York City, New
York State, Ontario, CA, and Provence, France.
Carol
works from her painting studio in New York City. She
lives on the Upper West Side with her husband Gary and
their only cat, Miss Muffin. (Their cat Crackerjack
died of FIV/AIDS this June 2004 and their other cat
Miss Tiggy passed away in 2002. The 2 dogs she was neighbor
and dog-godmother to, Scarlet and Breezy, recently moved
to Tuscon, AZ.)
